You have a choice of two airport destinations when traveling to Playa Carrillo, Costa Rica. You can fly into San Jose or Liberia. Your airport destination might be determined by factors like excursions or tours you will schedule, or the time you will have in Costa Rica.

- Liberia is the closest airport to Playa Carrillo. Drive time is approximately 1½ hours from Liberia. It is a very simple and scenic drive with roads that are excellent for the new visitor to Costa Rica.
- San Jose is approximately a 5 to 6 hour drive to Carrillo. It is a little more difficult drive for the first time driver in Costa Rica. The scenery is beautiful, but the roads can be a little more challenging at times.
From San Jose to Carrillo
By Plane
Sansa Regional Air flies to Carrillo every day. Departing time in low season is 8:40 a.m., arriving in Carrillo at 9:30 a.m. In high season there are two flights a day, departing time for the second flight is 11:40 a.m., arriving Carrillo at 12:38 p.m. Current price one way is $95.00 USD per person from San Jose to Carrillo.
By Bus
Alfaro Bus Company runs every day from San Jose to Nicoya. Upon arriving in Nicoya, you will change buses to Carrillo. The bus departs San Jose at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Duration of travel time is from 5 to 6 hours. Price per person is $6.00 USD. Interbus and Fantasy Bus offers transportation throughout the country. We will be pleased to obtain information on hours and prices at time of booking.
Rental Cars
In San Jose, as well as Liberia, we are affiliated with all the major rental car companies and will be pleased to help you with reserving your car at booking. Your car will be brought to you at your location.
Taxi or Mini-Van
You will be picked up by a private taxi or mini-van at the airport. The current cost is $180.00 USD. A maximum of 8 people is allowed in one mini-van.
From Liberia to Carrillo
Rental Cars
In Liberia, as well as San Jose, we are affiliated with all the major rental car companies and will be pleased to help you with reserving your car at booking. You will be picked up at the airport and shuttled to the car agency of your booking.
Taxi or Mini-Van
You will be picked up by a private taxi or mini-van at the airport. The current cost is $100.00 USD. A maximum of 8 people is allowed in one mini-van.
